Echoing Angels - You Alone
- You Alone, from Atlanta band Echoing Angels, formerly Two Bare Feet, imbues arrant command into each song on this album, for a flavor that is like an addiction.
“I Will” is a classic power ballad with that slow build up that reaches an apex of musical perfection. It has electric guitar work and drum pounding, as well as string play which adds to the latent ferocity of the track. The song has esthetic ballad lyrics about loneliness and being there for the one you love at that critical time, such as, “Ever wanna fall to somethin’ real? Ever want to change the way you feel? Then I will show you how this time. Love, it moves in ways you can’t describe, so close your eyes and see that everybody falls apart sometimes. Everybody walks a step behind sometimes. If you ever want someone to hold you when you feel like you’re all alone, I will.” It’s an oath from the vocalist to a female that he will be there when and if she is ever in need, and its certainty transcends to listeners.
The title track has a slower pace, but that doesn’t curtail its authority, and has piano play and more string work to back it up. It’s a somber tune with a resounding message in its lyrics. It’s a perfect song for a groom to dance to with his bride on their wedding day, to convey the depths of his love, with lyrics like, “I’m desperately wanting to just find a way, I’m searchin’ and seekin’ for someone to say. That it’s alright, that it's okay like I know you can. That it’s alright and it’s okay like I know you can. You alone, I am yours and you are mine. I know the heavens will call out your name if I don’t.” The sheer power of these lyrics will make female listeners swoon as the singer’s voice aches with untainted emotion.
“Let Go” is a song about liberty and being oneself. It is a song that listeners will feel compelled to blast as they drive toward new beginnings and new adventures in life. The furious guitar work inspires, and the drum work booms away injecting even more courage into the song. These elements accompany lyrics such as, “I finally crossed the line, I finally took a chance to rediscover the meaning of my life and everything I wanted to cover. And now it’s clear to me. I’m where I’m meant to be. So let go, live for the moment, reach out, that’s how you show it. Live because you can.” It’s an empowering song about living everyday for yourself and what you feel is right, no matter what anyone else thinks.
Echoing Angels’ album, You Alone, has a vocalist whose timbre is akin to the likes of James Wade of Lifehouse and Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty, but the singer applies his own passion to the album’s lyrics and ensures this band’s future to be a bright one.
