Art Garfunkel - Some Enchanted Evening
- Art Garfunkel’s newest album, Some Enchanted Evening, doesn’t offer anything new from the former half of the folk duo. It also is not to be confused with the musical, South Pacific. But, the most recent release from Garfunkel is a nostalgic and romantic collection of covers from The Great American Song Book. Some Enchanted Evening features breezy renditions of songs that bring the listener back to a simpler and more golden time, even if one hasn’t lived it!

The compilation features Gershwin’s “Someone to Watch Over Me,” Irving Berlin’s “What’ll I Do,” Arlen and Koehler’s “Let’s Fall in Love” and the Harptones “Life Is But a Dream” (where Garfunkel’s long-time producer, Richard Perry sings bass vocals). From the opening lyrics of “I Remember You,” where Garfunkel’s decidedly more weathered voice croons, “I remember you, you’re the one who made my dreams come true a few kisses ago,” to the very last dings of the piano on “If I Loved You,” one will be transported to a dream land and left with the yearning for the doo-wop influence and romantic charm to keep skimming the subconscious.
