Graydon James - Ominous Panda EP
- Ominous Panda EP, from Graydon James, has a subdued vibe to it and most of the tracks have acoustic guitar work that is terrific. The hints behind the lyrics give a sneak peek into the inner workings of James and listeners will be happy to be privy to such personal information.

The first track has expert acoustic guitar work which complements the lazy tone of James’s voice. He declares some dark emotions using destructive comparisons that might make some uncomfortable, and could be construed as subliminal messages, with lyrics like, “My confession starts with this. Oh my heart is a loaded gun. You better stop messin’ around or it’ll go off and hurt someone. What a fiasco, you fell in love too fast that's why you don’t know my favorite and that's why we won’t make it.” It seems James is trying to convey his heartache and how given his precarious emotional state, he is unsure if this relationship will endure.

The second track has whispering in the intro which is impossible to decipher. It then segues into guitar and percussion work and the tambourine is utilized for a relaxed tone. James then harmonizes with others for a pleasant melody as he croons lines such as, “You like me best when I am down. You get a kick out of kissin’ my ground and I wish you could see that I can’t make you happy, yet all I make you is a little less sad. I want you to see that you’re lovin’ me for the wrong reasons…A wreck of a human being, a wreck of a human being.” James is expressing his feelings about this relationship and how it might be hazardous for both participants.

The third track has more upbeat acoustic guitar and James emotes about not wanting to watch someone decay emotionally, and there is a safe haven that exists away from the rigors of life, with lines such as, “Hey scarecrow, I’m not gonna hang around to watch you rust. Blind sunshine beating down from dawn to dusk. This put the fear of G-D beneath my wings. These farmers daughters' hearts will hear me sing. The freedom is a place out in the field out in the moonlight.” James harmonizes with a female singer for a sedate rhythm that is kind of like a lullaby with its soft beat.

Graydon James’s album, Ominous Panda EP, has tracks that delve into the previously unspoken nature of the artist, his deeply held beliefs as well as his fears. James utilizes simple instrument play and matter of fact lyrics that express his point brusquely to his audience.
