It

It's About the Rose, by Karen Marie Garrett, debuted at #1 on the Top 100 Contemporary Instrumental and New Age Charts and with good reason. It has solemn tunes that exhibit Garrett's skill on the piano, mixed in which other powerful instruments that together will give listeners an experience they will not soon forget.

"It's About the Rose in the Vase on the Table" has a somewhat bereaved flow which makes it an ideal song in a movie, where a character is grieving and is sitting alone thinking about what he or she has lost. As the song goes on, her piano playing gets even more powerful.

On "Tally's Lullaby," there is compelling violin work in the intro, which might make listeners think the title of the song isn't appropriate, but then Garrett's piano playing enters the track, but in an attenuated fashion. As it drifts on, the sweetness takes over which will make listeners overlook the heady violin work that preceded it, and agree that the title is perfect for the song's rhythm.

"Vinot and the Seabird" has Garrett playing very strong and specific piano notes in a measured rhythm. Each tone seems to be in exact succession, one after another. Ghostly chanting comes in later, which might cause listeners to picture this song in a movie, where a character is being visited by a spirit from the great beyond, bearing a message of warning. This spooky feeling might dissuade some, but they would be doing their ears an injustice, as Garrett delicately taps the keys in a hypnotic beat.

On "The Piano Called," Garrett plays her instrument with a suspenseful tempo. The feeling of trepidation that boils just beneath the surface as she plays makes this a song that could be in a motion picture, where a character has had a revelation and the information he or she has discovered isn't pleasant. The foreboding tone that Garrett evokes could mean that they are going to take matters into their own hands.

"Moon Light" has piano building in the intro, and then gripping percussion comes to the forefront, with the violin finishing the instruments included in this commanding track. The violin play is hypnotizing and can take over listeners' emotions and mind.

Karen Marie Garrett's It's About the Rose can be classified as a New Age, Adult Contemporary or Jazz album, but no matter how you categorize it, the album has superb instrument play that lends on the sorrowful side, but that doesn't diminish the influence of each track.
