Angela Ortiz - All About You
- Angela Ortiz has created an outstanding album with her debut release, All About You. Each track on this album fits perfectly with the previous track, creating a complete package of seamless beauty. Ortiz shows off her impressive piano skills on each track accompanied by her silky smooth vocals. All of her lyrics are deeply meaningful and personal, which adds to the album’s appeal. In the tracks, “Steven” and “Mr. Thomas,” Ortiz is singing to a particular person and it is heard in her passionate delivery.
Ortiz has been compared to Tori Amos numerous times; and there is no escaping the fact that her sound does resemble the soulful singer. The similarities can be seen throughout many of the tracks, but especially in “Days of Lemonade.” The playful melody and the piano's partnership with the lyrics are extremely reminiscent of many of Amos’s works. Yet still, Angela Ortiz cannot be seen as anything less than a unique individual. Her voice is much kinder than Amos’s and her songs do not tend to get as angry sounding as many of Amos’s works. Ortiz’s years of musical training allow her to use her stylistic approaches intelligently to create her own distinctive sound. This album will take listeners on a whimsical yet extremely personal journey of beautiful sounds.
