Derrick Pearson - Lord You Are My Everything
- Lord You Are My Everything, by Derrick Pearson, is an assonant ode to the divinity. Each song rings of the empowerment one feels when they envelop themselves in Jesus Christ, and with each note listeners will feel the depth of Pearson’s loyalty.

The first track is a title intro by Pearson. In it he announces to the Holy Spirit how he is glad to be singing his praises once again, as he emotes lyrics like, “Lord G-D I thank you for this another opportunity to lift up the name of Jesus one more time. Lord, you’ve been my rock and my fortress.”

The title track comes next and it has a jazzy flow to it which is aided by what sounds like saxophone play. In this song, Pearson muses about what his life would be without the Holy One giving him guidance and a path for his life to follow, with inquisitive lyrics like, “Where would I be if there were no you there’d be no me. Where would I go without your way to follow? On my knees to you I pray…You are the path I take…You are the wind beneath my wings…You are the thoughts on my mind…Lord you are my everything.” For those who need to be elevated, this song is perfect to lift their spirits and give them hope from a higher source.

On “Be Strong,” there is drum play as well as percussion work. Intermittently there is also acoustic guitar work from Tommy Crosby and background vocals from DJ Tracy Young, which give the song a smooth vibe. The beat also has an upbeat flow as Pearson emotes about being resilient and looking to G-D for assistance, with lyrics like, “There will be times when the weight of life will be hard to bear. But in those times, if you trust in G-D he will be there…Hold on in Christ we win the fight…Be strong fight the good fight.” This is a song for those who look to the Lord to help them through hardships they face.

On “I Cry Unto Thee,” the rhythm is more subdued. There is what sounds like piano playing and slight percussion play. Pearson is telling Him that when he weeps he is asking for His cooperation, as he sings lyrics such as, “Lord I cry to thee…When I cry to thee. Keep me from the snare which they laid for me….When I cry to thee, Lord I cry to thee, make haste unto me.” It seems Pearson is asking The All Powerful One to shield him from those who leave traps and to be aware that when he cries, he is soliciting Him in evading such machinations.

Derrick Pearson’s Lord You Are My Everything is an encouraging album filled with songs that tell tales of utter commitment to the Lord above. For those who believe in the healing power of music and singing His accolades, this album filled with declaratory tracks is the perfect way for listeners to show their devotion to G-D.
