Cary Brothers - Who You Are
- Cary Brothers has seen a lot of popularity with his music. His songs have appeared on the TV shows Scrubs, Smallville, Bones, Grey’s Anatomy, and E.R. He also had a track called “Blue Eyes” that appeared on the Garden State soundtrack. After listening to his latest album, Who You Are, it’s easy to see why his music has received so much attention.
Brothers’s album is calming and laid-back, but never borders on boring. It’s the perfect style for studying, kicking back after a difficult day or being lazy on a Saturday morning.
“If You Were Here,” a song in which a female voice joins the mix, is one of the highlights of the album. The guitar and other instruments used in the song complement Brothers’s voice perfectly; all of the sounds are soft and soothing, and they all come together as one harmonious group.
All of the tracks on Who You Are carry the same theme and tone that “If You Were Here” has, but the variations in melody and tempo give the album more than enough diversity to remain interesting from the first track to the last. For example, “All the Rage” is significantly slower than many of the other tracks, which sets it apart. It also includes a few lines of piano at the end, and although the instrument is used only briefly, it adds to the song tremendously.
Brothers’s music will no doubt continue to gain popularity, especially if he continues to produce more albums like Who You Are.
