Arlon Bennett - Summer's Voice
- Arlon Bennett’s new release, Summer’s Voice, is a country/Americana album full of stories and inspiring lyrics. The music itself isn’t all that catchy, but the stories Bennett tells make the album more entertaining.

For example, “Be The Change” describes people in history who have taken a stand to make their world a better place. One example he uses is Rosa Parks. Another song, “Small Body Blonde” may seem to describe a woman, but is actually about a guitar. The song is full of innuendoes, which makes it particularly amusing.

As I mentioned before, the lyrics are pretty much this album’s only redeeming quality. Bennett has a nice voice, but his singing on the album isn’t all that great. Also, his guitar playing shows at least some level of talent, but the melodies of the songs aren’t memorable.

I can understand that maybe Bennett is trying to focus on the lyrics by keeping the music simple, but there’s a difference between simple and dull. He should try to make the songs a little catchier for the next album.
