Karen Jacobsen - Kissing Someone Else
- Karen Jacobsen presents sugary-sweet pop music on her newest album, Kissing Someone Else, which is full of entertaining tracks, but still has a “coffee shop gig” sort of feel. I could imagine her playing the songs on Kissing Someone Else while sitting on a barstool and watching people sip espresso.

The album sounds somewhat like Vanessa Carlton with a little less piano and a little more acoustic guitar. The instruments usually hang out in the background, which allows Jacobsen to show off her singing easily.

Track three is a highlight of the album. It’s one of the catchier songs, and a couple of moments in the song allow Jacobsen to show off her vocal talent. Track four is also great. It’s one of the ballads on the album, but although it starts quietly, it ends in a flourish.

Kissing Someone Else is a quality album overall. There are a couple of songs on it that could possibly become popular singles on the radio, but Jacobsen’s music would have to get more exposure first. Since I’ve never heard of her, I’d assume there are many other people out there who haven’t either.
