Justin Hines - Sides
- On first listen Justin Hines’ album "Sides" seems reminiscent of Ryan Cabrera or John Mayer. However as the tracks progress "Sides" takes on its own distinct sound and sounds less like other artists.
The album is mellow and quiet, but catchy. The instrumentation is simple-–most of the songs use only a drum set and acoustic guitar. The background instruments blend well with Hines’ sweet voice.
Some of the songs are slow and some are more up-tempo, but none are very energetic. While many albums that follow this style come off as boring "Sides" never feels dull or tired. Hines has a way of making each song different enough from the one before it to keep the album interesting.
Track 12 is one of the highlights of "Sides." It has more of a pop sound than the other songs, and the tempo is more brisk. The song also incorporates some piano along with the usual drums and guitar.
Although "Sides" may seem familiar when track one opens it becomes apparent that the album has its own unique style. Justin Hines created a great album that will keep listeners hooked until the end.
