Ben Jelen - Ex-Sensitive (Dig)
- Ben Jelen’s “Ex-Sensitive (Dig,)” has inklings of pop and electronica as Jelen’s voice echoes for miles on certain tracks and on others has a softness that will touch listeners’ hearts.

The first track has inarticulate lyrics in the intro along with electronic sounds, but if you listen carefully you can hear the lyric, “Can’t explain.” The track’s lyrics can be more understood as the song progresses. Guitar enters the mix as Jelen emotes about starting afresh and how excited he is: “We created a new beginning from the start comes new meaning. Feel the rhythm pulsing...One by one connecting who we are.”

The second track is more meditative with toned down guitar, drum and percussion play. On this track Jelen talks about gazing into his lover’s eyes with lines like, “Where we go…We have seen eye to eye. Our love collides…So where do we go from here.” It seems Jelen is questioning the destiny of his relationship with his honey, but it's clear he wants their connection to continue.

The fourth track has what sounds like organ play accompanied by acoustic guitar, and both instruments are slow and practiced. This song talks about what the future might entail: “You dream of flyin’ cars, cities in the stars from where you are. You can see everything. Lookin’ down from space from where you see our fate. So beautiful that we don’t see anything….And how to break the speed of sound.” Jelen paints a picture so vivid that listeners can conjure up in their own minds this glorious universe that seems so resplendent.

Ben Jelen’s “Ex-Sensitive (Dig)” has songs that will rivet pop and electronica fans alike. His vocals echoes harmoniously and gets high-pitched at times, but not so much that it would annoy listeners and make them turn off the album.
