Vallejo - Rock Americano
- Vallejo’s “Rock Americano” is an album that has a Latin beat with a kicking rock rhythm. Each song will get listeners’ blood pumping, and they will find it useless to contest the impulse to sing right along with the band.

“Classico” begins with percussion and chanting in the intro. Then drum play enters the mix, bringing a tribal tone to the song. Electric guitar then bursts onto the scene, giving the song a hard rock feel as well. The vocalist starts to croon about freeing oneself, letting loose with lines such as, “Hola…This is called an invitation to an open congregation filled with desire…So come on down. Let it go. Just let me get there, classico. Come on down, let it go.”

On “Into The New” the all too familiar sound of a dial-up computer connection can be heard along with drums and the sound of echoing voices. Then, guitar begins to rock the house in an infectiously rhythmic tone. The vocalist then asks listeners to join him in an undertaking: “Welcome to my room…I hope you’ll stay for awhile. Don’t you go so soon…Tune it up, let it go…We’re on a mission.” This is one song that listeners will have no difficulty jamming to, and the vocalist sounds as though he is having just as much fun singing it as listeners will have hearing it.

“Take a Ride” is the quintessential road trip song. The intro has keys jingling and the revving up of a motorcycle. Listeners can envision hopping on the back of a Harley-Davidson with the wind in their hair, turning on this song and seeing where the pavement takes them. The searing guitar work only adds to the pulsing beat of this song. The lyrics talk about relinquishing all cautions and going for a joyride with lines like, “Here I go, I’m comin’ through your stereo…I feel the need to break away and get some things off my mind. I think I wanna go for a drive…Been loco livin’ large kickin’ back on a stack of my bills. I’m ready to fly. So come and get ready cuz we’re takin’ a ride.”

“Rock Americano,” from Vallejo, is an album that listeners will find hard not to enjoy at high volumes. All of the songs have an overwhelmingly triumphant feeling to them that will make listeners grin from ear to ear.
