Jesse Harris - Feel
- One of the most remarkable things about Jesse Harris’ album "Feel" is how quickly it was made. According to Harris’ site, he returned from traveling, got everyone into the studio, played each song once, recorded it and then left town again. It took a total of three days.
It’s hard to believe this is true while listening to the songs. Considering the rushed nature of the production, the music seems incredibly relaxed and well-produced.
Each track plods along slowly, but never feels boring. Also, each song seems to incorporate a different instrument than the song before and after it. At various points throughout "Feel," there is an appearance by a harmonica, banjo and strings, and the list doesn’t stop there. Although the style of the tracks never really changes, they still stand apart from one another.
For example, track four includes a marimba or other mallet instrument in the background. The instrument makes the song seem somewhat paradoxical -– Harris’ voice is low and melancholy, but the mallet instrument sounds happy and upbeat.
For such a short amount of time in the studio, Harris’ album "Feel" is impressive. It’s catchy, smooth and original.
