Robbi K & Friends - Music Makes Me Happy
- At first I wasn’t aware that Robbi K’s album, "Music Makes Me Happy," is for children. It became apparent pretty fast, though.
As track one began, I felt like I was back in elementary school. The song reminds me of a jump rope rhyme with its rhythmic choppiness and the repeated phrase, “Music makes me feel the beat.”
The next song has the same style, only it sounds more like a Caribbean elementary school. Children sing in the background while the lead vocals say things like, “Summer’s hot, summer’s cool, ice cream parties in the pool.” If there’s anything to make you miss your younger days, these songs are it.
Track three features several young singers and they all sound great. The background vocals remind me of “School of Rock” -- only with less rock. In the middle of the song, a boy does some sort of entertaining rap that is just precious.
Since I’m well over the target age for this CD, I definitely wouldn’t have it on constant rotation. However, I can imagine little kids enjoying it to the full.
