Madison Ambush - Madison Ambush
- Madison Ambush’s self-titled album is a record filled with tracks that will inflame listeners’ with its pulsating rhythms and introspective lyrics. The lead vocalist’s timbre can vary depending on the tone of the song, but no matter what emotion he conveys his voice thrusts its way through the music to give listeners’ a surefire taste of the band’s meaning.
“Versus” has hard guitar play, which is accompanied by speedy drum work. This track seems to be a competition between the vocalist and his sweetheart as to who will come out the victor in their relationship. The vocalist muses about this unhealthy power play with lyrics such as, “I love the way that the blood drips down your face. Inspired by the way you look at me. So I stop to say only I will walk away.”
On “From Another Day” the introduction has ripping guitar riffs along with vital drumming. Screaming emanates during the remainder of the intro, which might unsettle some listeners but stir others on. Rhythmic electronic sounds can also be heard throughout the song along with a band member seductively whispering in the background. The track seems to be about not letting things get out of control. “Never let it get to me…To keep it all together…You are not alone. You are not alone.” It sounds as if the vocalist is giving himself a pep talk to convince himself that everything is okay and that he can keep it all in check.
“Stray Time Bomb” has a pop and rock feel to it, evidenced by the quick drum and guitar work. The vocalist’s tone is amended in this track with what could be a synthesizer, since his vocals go from normal sounding to downright insidious. The pace of the song is fevered as he utters such lyrics as, “You’re shakin’ now. The clock is tickin’ down and I am somewhere in between…Red or green, it’s hit or miss.” The vocalist seems to be comparing particular emotions to the countdown of a volatile explosive and judging by the rate of the song, this analogy seems to be an accurate one.
Madison Ambush’s self-titled album is one that has hectic songs, but they contain lyrics that are very thought provoking. If listeners can get past some of the wailing and sinister messages, they will discover a band and an album well worthy of their time.
