Urban Angel

Urban Angel, from Natalie Walker, is this 23-year-old artist's debut album, and she will mesmerize listeners with her expressive voice and organic melodies. Walker's timbre can get so tranquil and still that listeners will be inevitably wrapped up in the cocoon of her musical prowess. Her fusing of electronica and soul stems from influences by blockbuster performers like Lauryn Hill and Jewel. Yet, Walker stamps her own brand of mysterious bravado on each and every track.

The title track has a mystical opening complete with rhythmic drum work and hypnotic vocals from Walker. The melody of the song fades in and out, which might disorient some listeners or galvanize others. Walker emotes about losing her purity with lines like, "Sweet like a warm summer rain/Crush the innocence/Keep it going."

On "4 Faith" electronic sounds invade the intro along with piercing percussion play. Walker's timbre is soft and subtle as she croons lines such as, "Heartbeat harmony, you have been alive. Heartbeat harmony, you have been alive."

"Not the End" has deep piano play that has a surpassed rhythm. Walker's vocals are timid yet magnetic. "I am colored/Black coffee/ I am ready, I am ready, I am ready."

Natalie Walker's "Urban Angel" encompasses spellbinding tunes as her voice leaves a balmy calm in its wake. Walker cements her standing as a striving "Urban Angel."
