Adam Hill - Four Shades of Green
- “Four Shades of Green” by Adam Hill is a rock country album that has a bit of a subdued rhythm to it. The vocalist’s timbre is incredibly relaxed and the overall tone of the record is geared toward a hometown vibe. Many of the songs chronicle common life incidents, but have that country twist to them that will delight listeners.
“Down in the Valley” starts off with some static then what sounds like slow, rhythmic violin work comes into play. Listeners can envision hearing this song as they meander on a road trip while basking in all the pageantry of small town life.
On “Empty Rows” the vocalist’s timbre is rather repentant as he goes on about the actions of an everyday woman. “There’s a house where a woman is painting on blank walls…Tryin’ to get it just right…These empty empty rows…But they tell us we were wrong.”
“Next Stop Winona” has skittish guitar play that has pauses in between the chords. The song has a down home feel to it as the vocalist goes on about another trek he has taken. “The rumble of the wheels…600 miles back past Chicago…Winona will be next.” Listeners will be caught up in the images that the vocalist puts forth.
Adam Hill’s “Four Shades of Green” is a record that gives listeners a glimpse into the life of the common man. How certain happenings are commonplace, but for those who are unaccustomed to this lifestyle, Hill will introduce them to it with musical flair and ingenuity.
