Amy London - When I Look in Your Eyes
- Amy London’s “When I Look in Your Eyes” is stuffed full of songs that have a jazz as well as that classical bend to them. London sings with sheer emotion about true love and all the feelings that go along with it. Her timbre has a smart sensuality to it, and the instrumentation brings each song to a capstone either musically or lyrically. The first track has precise guitar work convoyed by a big band sound. Soft drum play follows as London goes on about how she and her girlfriend must take a trip to the Big Apple in order to fulfill their destiny. "There’s a boat that’s leavin’ soon for New York. Come with me, that’s where we belong, sister. You and me, we can live the high life in New York.”

The second track includes smooth piano work along with light cymbal play as London sings about how she feels when she is in juxtaposition to her special someone. “Sometimes we walk hand in hand by the sea and we breathe in the cool, salty air. You turn to me with a kiss in your eyes and my heart feels a thrill beyond compare…Its wonderful, wonderful. So wonderful, my love.” London paints a romantic picture for listeners.

The third track speeds things up considerably as a male voice counts down numbers one through six faintly and then London vocally scats with a cool and jazzy rhythm. The piano work is swift and defined as London hastily sings about doing things her way and even if something goes wrong, she always gets back up. “So I keep workin’ on changin’ things. My time is spent rearranging things…Still when I fall I bounce back off the wall.” This is a great song for those listeners who have experienced slip ups in their lives. London presses them to not be discouraged by those errors and to keep rising to any challenges that lay before them.

“When I Look in Your Eyes,” by Amy London, is an album that will entice fans with its poetic tracks as well as its more upbeat ones. London’s timbre goes from avid to passive, but no matter what the mood of the song, listeners will be invariably drawn in by her hypnotic messages and overall passion.
