Sakai - Dream Big
- San Francisco’s Sakai releases her standout second solo record “Dream Big” in a year where less than stellar records seem to be the norm. The sophomore effort from the singer is smart and well produced, bringing R&B together with soul, creating a contemporary feel. Sakai’s voice may sound familiar, as she has performed backing vocals both in the studio and live with many world famous musicians. The list includes Celine Dion, Stevie Wonder, James Taylor, Chaka Khan and Aretha Franklin.
“I Like” kicks off the album in a radio friendly, albeit poppy, way. While in some ways it's a generic sounding track, Sakai’s vocals add personality. “Friendship to Love” has a classic R&B sound and shows lyrical depth. “Leap of Faith” has a gospel touch to it and shows the true range of Sakai’s vocal talent. “Dream Big” is a must for any soul and R&B fan.
