Ben Lee - Ripe
- Now I know what a cavity sounds like. Australian born Ben Lees’ latest CD “Ripe” is about as sweet as a Pixie Stix sprinkled on an Astro Pop and about as filling too. I could almost hear the pages of Tiger Beat magazine rustling through my head while listening to the album. This is pure pop music with no apologies. Songs like the mid-tempo “Just Say Yes” and “So Hungry” show Lee’s voice to be about as thin and big as a smar-tee. The weirdly titled “What Would Jay-Z Do” is about as deep as this album goes, pondering what would “Hova” do in certain life and love situations.

If you like a little meat in your music then this CD may not be for you. But if you prefer dessert over entrées then this album will fit your appetite.
