Captain and Tennille - Secret of Christmas
- It’s evident as soon as you hear Tennille’s voice: she and The Captain have been around a looooong time. At this point in your career, there's really only two choices (other than quitting) -- either do an album full of standards (Rod Stewart, Natalie Cole) or you make a Christmas album. “Secret of Christmas” is Captain and Tennille’s answer to that dilemma. I kinda wish they would've gone with retirement. With songs like “I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas” exposing the cracks, wear and tear on Tennille’s voice and the music sounding like the sounds you hear when you visit a mall Santa, this album was a really bad idea. True, you can’t really screw up classics such as “Silent Night” and Santa Claus is Coming To Town,” but it’s the originals like "Secret of Christmas” that really bog this album down.

Not an album I’d recommend… unless “Christmas, Muskrat Love” is a bonus track that I didn’t find.
