Mae Robertson - Dream
- Mae Robertson’s warm, soothing voice singing traditional lullabies like “Golden Slumbers,” “Hush, Little Baby” and “Winken, Blinken and Nod” makes Dream a good album to listen to when trying to get your little ones to fall asleep. Dream is also an album for adults as well, as Robertson’s covers of Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young,” Paul Simon’s “St. Judy’s Comet,” James Taylor’s “You Can Close Your Eyes” and Tom Waits’s “Midnight Lullaby” will remind older listeners of the music of their youth. In its appeal to both babies and adults and in being part of Robertson’s Lullabies and Lovesongs CD series, Dream is similar to the album, Unexpected Dreams: Songs from the Stars, which mostly featured stars from film and television singing songs that could be enjoyed by adults and infants. Robertson had already recorded other albums before Dream, however, and the assuredness in her singing helps set her apart from some of the celebrity singers on Unexpected Dreams. Robertson’s Dream contains 14 tracks and was named “Notable Recording for Children” by the American Library Association.
