Sheri Miller - Mantra
- Following in the footsteps of artists like Toby Lightman and Sheryl Crow, Sheri Miller presents clear, fresh vocals accompanied by excellent guitar playing in Mantra. Easily an up-and-coming singer, Miller is someone to look for in coming years.

The title track, “Mantra (I’m in Love),” echoes the ballad style of Sarah McLachlan with soothing vocals and poignant piano accompaniment. With the occasional addition of quiet percussion and singing strings, “Mantra” is a dedication to love, one that provides a sense of hope, tinged with sadness. “Mantra” is undoubtedly a hit.

Two other excellent tracks on this album are “Devil in White,” and “Right Here, Right Now.” “Devil in White,” an up-tempo, pulsing track proclaiming the age-old fight between good and evil, is slightly reminiscent of Toby Lightman’s “Devils and Angels.” “Right Here, Right Now” is a simple Americana love song, colored by strings and tambourine. With its creative chord progressions and guitar riffs, “Right Here, Right Now,” is a mellow, lazy tribute to love.

With influences ranging from Etta James to the Beatles, Miller’s music is a conglomeration of American soul and British pop; however, with her clean vocals, poetic lyrics, and creative instrumentation, the conglomeration becomes a smooth blending of popular sounds. Although her EP only has six tracks, each are equally and consistently well-crafted. Miller is someone the music world should keep an eye out for; she is a rising musician.
