Becky Schlegel - For All the World to See
- In her third album, For All the World to See, Becky Schlegel presents sweet, clear vocals within folk, country, and bluegrass grooves. Her unique style is tempered by sentimental lyrics sung with an earnestness that is refreshing. Recalling the style of Jewel, Schlegel’s vocals brighten up this album and each carefully-crafted track.

With excellent playing by her band, which includes Brian Fesler on banjo, Gordon Johnson on bass, Bo Ramsey on electric guitar, Marc Anderson on percussion and Jeff Midkiff on mandolin, For All the World to See is a shining album, one that is uplifting in its simplicity.

The title track, “For All the World to See,” is a typical country song, driven by a smooth, guitar-dominated groove. Schlegel’s vocals, particularly in the duet, have both an airy and rich quality that makes the track unforgettable.

Two outstanding tracks on this album are “Lonely” and “99%.” “Lonely” is a sorrowful song made poignantly sweet by Schlegel’s voice. An uncomplicated, lovely ballad, “Lonely” is by far one of the most moving tracks of For All the World to See. A fast-paced, banjo-propelled bluegrass track, “99%” accentuates the simple beauty of Schlegel’s voice.

Becky Schlegel’s For All the World to See is a memorable album, one that should quickly rise, making Schlegel the well-known artist she should be. With a distinct genuineness about her vocals, Schlegel’s heart is in her song, and her band acts as the support she needs to reach one of the highest planes of musicality.
