AZ - Undeniable
- Echoing the style of Kanye West, AZ, largely regarded as one of the East Coast’s best rappers, uses smooth instrumentation to create an album juxtaposing velvety vocals with hard, explicit lyrics. A well-crafted album, Undeniable features a number of rap and hip-hop grooves, all united under the silky quality of AZ’s lyrics and rapping ability.

AZ opens the album with “The Game Don’t Stop,” a mellow rap song showcasing old school style with rippling piano and a pulsing rhythmic groove.

Two other great tracks on this album are “Superstar” and “What Would You Do.” “Superstar,” which features low, harmonic piano chords paired with female vocals, has a powerful groove made even stronger by AZ’s smooth rapping. “What Would You Do,” with its passionate vocals, catchy chorus, and symphonic instrumentation bordered with a strong backbeat, is a stand out on this excellent album.

Though AZ may have explicit lyrics, he is surprisingly poetic, and his rapping talent is unparalleled. Taking AZ and Undeniable to a new level is his clever instrumentation, particularly his use of percussion and piano. Adding a rich quality to the album, the piano musical texture is molded and shaped to fit the groove of each song. With AZ’s talent and his carefully-constructed tracks, there is no doubt that Undeniable could be a hit.
