Animate Objects - Riding in Cars with Your Momma
- Riding in Cars with Your Momma, by Animate Objects, is a highly catchy album that contains sounds from soul, hip-hop, jazz, and occasionally, reggae. The lyrics are fresh and honest; they’re not something you have heard many times before. The rhythms and beats are great to bounce or “lean back” to, as you listen in a car, etc. All of these songs are very catchy.
The blend of different types of music is done so smoothly that it would be difficult to categorize them and I wonder if they should even be categorized because they fit into a few areas, but everything blends seamlessly. The variance of singing and rapping is also pulled off very well. However, sometimes the vocals do go a bit fast for the instruments; they could have been slightly closer together in tempo, but it does not take away much from the music as a whole.
