Chris Walden - Symphony No. 1 The Four Elements
- Chris Walden’s Symphony No. 1 The Four Elements is rather eerily whimsical. Many sections of each of the four tracks are threatening, with deep and powerful sounds coming from the basses, cellos, and others. And yet, the violins and violas add a sound that is playful and cheery; although, at points they seem to be running away from the other instruments. In the third track, the violins’ high notes are similar to piercing screams; however, the cello seems more comforting in this track instead of threatening.

Every track has variations in tempo and the focus on a set of instruments changes from seconds to seconds and minute to minute. All of them, especially track four, are very grandiose in sound, playing on emotions, images, and thoughts as well as the music. Many songs seem to be epics weaving stories with melodies and harmonies. The second track, for example, begins with the strings being plucked, and it kind of sounds like someone is sneaking around, and about four and half minutes in, the deep instruments seem to be battling the high instruments. A listener can take many ideas from this music.

Each track is beautifully constructed and performed, and is very easy to enjoy.
