Patti Rothberg - Double Standards
- Patti Rothberg succeeds in making another album, Double Standards, with straightforward lyrics that provide enjoyment, laughter, and comfort. The music sounds something along the lines of pop rock/pop punk with a hint of country and the '80s. The songs feel youthful with the music because it’s light and upbeat, but some of the lyrics are more grown-up.
My personal favorite is “PT Cruiser” just because it’s funny and made me think the PT Cruiser might actually be cool, when I hated it. “Wavelength” is also great because its simplicity is beautiful: most of the song is just her, accompanied by an acoustic guitar, and adds violins for a brief time.
However, in some of the songs, her voice sounds a little weak compared to the music; it was not as powerful as in other songs. Also, some songs sounded like the chorus would be a punch but was nothing more than a push or shove. But everyone could find something to like on Double Standards.
