Omni - Ghosts
- Omni blends a hard rock sound with a lighter, or less heavy, sound. The intro on Ghosts sounds a bit new age, too, which shows that the album will be more; there will be elements that surprise most hard rock fans, like the timpani in the interlude of the 10th track, the string orchestra on the 11th track, and the beautiful harmony of the acoustic guitar on the 4th track. In most rock bands the instrument that gets most of the prominence is the guitar, but here, the bass seems to be the one that would garner the significance and praise because of how it has its own time in the songs and all the riffs for it are dark and brilliant to hear. On occasion, they can remind a listener of Smile Empty Soul or once of Nine Inch Nails; track 5 reminds me of “Hurt” because it has the gorgeous rock melody accompanied by gorgeous vocals and saddening lyrics. Most of the lyrics are between simple and poetic. If you are a fan of hard rock, you might not want to pass by Ghosts.
