Career Club - Pure Hearing
- Career Club’s Pure Hearing is upbeat, with its tracks sort of clamoring together to create a nice rhythmic sound. It’s fast paced and rocks hard, as Career Club communicates a familiar sound similar to other bands alike out there and its predecessors. Not just in the instrumentals, but even in the vocals, certain notes achieved resemble that of some of the most popular bands in recent memory. On one occasion, I could have sworn I spotted the hidden remnants of the Red Hot Chili Peppers attached to the music filtering out of my speakers.
Each track seems to run together a bit, but has a nice subtlety as each song is slightly off, meaning each song has its own unique brand. The tracks stand alone with an acute resonance that comes through, in addition to being part of the big puzzle of fitting into this album’s master plan. The lyrics are nothing extravagant as they don’t preach, yet remind us of any typical modern rock band’s message, i.e. girls, or one in particular more often.
I cannot award points for originality as there’s nothing innovative about the band’s stance in performance. It absorbs what’s out there and makes it its own without being a blatant replica. The sounds of Career Club stand alone, having picked from the existing fields of bands alike, but cleverly utilize its talents into consistently good quality harmonic music. Career Club lifts our spirits and seems to fit into the setting of a dormant summer where there’s nothing to do but have fun with those around you.
