Sara Bareilles - Little Voice
- Her first hit single from the album, the upbeat “Love Song,” was testament to her talent. From her bluesy dreamer’s anthem, “Vegas,” to the bubbly ode to love, “Bottle It Up,” to the soulful and urgent “Between the Lines,” the album’s variety only confirms that talent.
The track, “Come ‘Round Soon” features her sexy, smoky voice and a tone that makes the speaker sound, interestingly, both coy and vulnerable at the same time. The socially aware “Fairytale” is a bluesy parody of fairytales, rejecting the traditional and reinventing female fairytale characters, lending them the voices of today’s women. With the thoughtful observation in “City” and the vivid lyrics in “One Sweet Love,” the album is a complete and diverse collection of music.
She is compared to Norah Jones and Fiona Apple and, though she shares aspects in common with both, the music of Sara Bareilles cannot be limited by this description.
