The first thought that came to my mind when listening to Alex Woodard's eponymous album, Alex Woodard, was, "Is he related to Tom Petty?" Woodard has a smoky, rich and lovely voice highly reminiscent of that famous classic rocker, Tom Petty.
Woodard's album is hard to generalize; however, it is definitely a country album at heart. It is certainly a crossover album, as though it contains a country spirit, it should appeal to a wide variety of music fans. It has delightful classic rock aspects, and the tunes are easy to get into. "Older," "Beautiful Now," "Mountain Town" and "Photograph" are good songs to look out for on this album.
