The Buckerettes

The Buckerettes are a wholesome trio of trailblazing cowgirls who specialize in that Americana and country school of music. After listening to their self titled album, I'm almost in the mood to grab a pair of cowboy boots with spurs, a hat, and go to a hoedown. This is the type of music that needs to be listened to and only enjoyed by a large group. Listening to this by yourself gets nauseous and is a real trudge.

To me it felt like The Buckerettes were lecturing or talking down to us, speaking in a language that was dumbed down for kindergarteners. They talk about spinning a lasso or about one of them farm animals. Then they repeat it as if we didn't get it the first time. This is not my cup of tea. I knew that from the excessive yodeling that streamlined through in and out.

I don't want to say it doesn't take talent to do what they do, but there are better extrapolations of what they do in different genres. A capella is a more brilliant form as the members are not only in sync, but conjure up other little tidbits that wow us. With this lady dee dah Americana sprinkled across the board, it was mind-numbing and not to be harsh, but seemed uneducated.

Perhaps if the tempo was a bit quicker, it would have been more attractive. Instead, it was dreadfully slow that just held and held on the same meticulously and repetitious few notes, as yodeling blared in my ear drum. I don't see too many people going out of their way to put this in their iPod or CD player.
