Angel, Put Your Face On
Brian Vander Ark's album entitled Angel, Put Your Face On strums in with a firm country vibe. I think the whole album is a strong pick-me-up as it's flavored with rich and fruitful music. Brian displays his musical talents again with his strong and unintimidating voice, coupled with his soft and smooth waving guitar.
The tracks rise and fall in tempo like an ocean's tides receding. When his speed slows, it makes his music that much more powerful and we sympathize and follow the journey we're being guided on. He makes some beautiful music as his intensity and passion are controlled. They don't blast out all of a sudden. Brian maintains his cool as he calmly and sensually bares his soul.
The sound seems to be similar to that of the Dave Matthews Band. Fans might find refuge on this up-and-coming musical talent. Brian speaks into the microphone just as Dave does and has a wonderful backup to make his words echo out louder than ever before.
The lyrics are sweet as they call from above in the heavens to the seemingly familiar earth. Brian's demeanor is brilliant as he demonstrates his dedication and the meticulousness he devotes to writing each note as he is a true master of his craft. Although this album is short, it doesn't take away. Each track contains a fair amount of substance and Brian immerses himself in each song with the same passion and devotion that precedes it. Brian's tender and whimsical words haunt us with a sweet aftertaste long after the CD stops spinning.
