Fall of the Idols is a reasonably new band on the metal/hard rock scene. Their newest album, Seance, is, as the title would suggest, a dark and brooding album. This is not an album for the weak of heart. . . . OK, well maybe just not for those looking for an upbeat, feel good album.
Apparently trying to take on the modern mantle of Metallica and Nirvana, Fall of the Idols has the edgy, grunge part down pat, but just doesn't have the soul. The songs are intimidating, as they are meant to be, but there isn't one especially notable or standout aspect within this album. It's fine filler for the end of summer, until something better comes along, though, but they're no modern Nirvana, no question about it.
