Amy Grant - Lead Me On (2 Discs)
- Amy Grant reinvents her “Lead Me On” track after 20 years by releasing a 2 disc album with that name. I must say it’s a series of beautiful recordings that takes flight for the stars. Lead Me On is a strong and powerfully intimate listen that embraces you. Amy, throughout her career, had a heavy influence on Gospel music, thus making her the best selling Christian Music artist of all time and 19th best selling female solo artist in the United States. With these accomplishments, Amy’s 2 disc anthology is a long awaited marvel. The Gospel isn’t too overbearing that would shun oppositions as it’s just a hint in the appropriate quantity with an '80s flair.
There’s a perfect harmonic balance of ranging tempos across the tracks. Her beautifully tender voice takes us on a spiritual journey through the sands of time as it can place you wherever your heart desires. It’s that beautifully smooth and progressive. Each track manifests itself in a different form and is coated in wonderful lyrics that really speak to us and calm us, putting us at ease in a mellow state. Amy demonstrates her conviction and importance as a singer/songwriter in the presence of musical history that hypnotizes us into listening with both our heart and mind.
It’s rare that you get 2 discs full of tracks that are all good; granted the second composite has live concert versions and interviews. But it’s a stunning compilation that invites you into the life of one of the most talented and successful female solo artists ever. The songs run together like an aural story that you can sit and just lose yourself in like a good book. One listen will leave you mesmerized by the beauty of Amy’s voice, coupled with dazzling acoustic sets.
