Citizens of Contrary Knowledge - You're What You Wish You Are
- Citizens of Contrary Knowledge (CCK) releases a series of rock song ballads on the album, You’re What You Wish You Are, that are humbling and cool. That old fashioned rock 'n' roll sound turned out from the '80s seems to be the cortex, with a fading bluesy charm that comes and goes as it pleases. Their songs are unique with a refreshing appeal, since they do not run into one another as they stand on their own. However, their overall sound seems reminiscent of its predecessors. No knock on them; CCK makes it work.

You can’t pinpoint their exact source of inspiration from this derivation of similar sounding origins, since they merely use it as a staunch foundation for their inhabited musical beliefs. The members are from various backgrounds, so using something set in stone from a successful past as a guide is quite unifying and serves as a springboard to catapult themselves into musical discourse. The vocals are distant and hindered, making the lyrics a tad difficult to decipher, but through their distinction and harmonious unification, you can tell their linguistic voice is rhythmic and encouraging.

CCK is very versatile in the experimentation they play around with to make freakish and hipster tracks. They make us take notice as they slow it down and calmly talk to us in a controlled manner. They are all one cohesive unit making rhythms that can be appreciated. CCK changes it up in the course of their songs with calling an audible multiple times, stringing together a whole array of sounds that drive it home like a battering ram.
