Ablaye Cissoko and Voler Goetze - Sira
- Kora player, Ablaye Cissoko, and German trumpeter, Voler Goetze, partnered up and recorded on location in Senegal. The result is the album, Sira, which is a worldly invitation to an intimate musical relationship. “Sira” translates to mermaid and is the name of Cissoko’s youngest daughter. Sira proves to be a focused and methodic collaboration between two great artists who maintain a careful deliberation and prove to be masters of intricacy.
The music takes its time, carefully building up unequivocal lyrics that chime in like a beam of light and echo to eternity. Sira is very emotional and stirs us up with firm cultural depths. It’s timeless, as the music spans from the past and moves towards the future without missing a beat. Sira is an amazing collaboration that really engineered a hybrid between two worldly renowned artists.
Across the world, Cissoko and Goetze’s partnership makes a startling impact. This creative alliance has donated 10 percent of their profits to helping children of Africa, in order to bring sustainable development and positive social transformation for human rights. With this partnering, it seems only right.
The brilliant horns and strings cannot be placed in one genre for the collective sound they make. It’s tender and softly passionate. Sira has a jazzy, primitive side to it that seems to take us back to ancient times. These masterful tracks show a stellar work of talent that is delivered in a very pristine manner, which can be appropriately embraced by all. Sira demonstrates the epitome of a true artistic collaboration.
