James Morrison - Songs for You, Truths for Me
- James Morrison – not to be confused with Jim Morrison of The Doors – releases his sophomore batch of tracks that stitches the patchwork from his first album together again and runs the needle through this one with the same tried and true style. He lets loose a soulful display that sheds the tears of sorrow without being depressing. The tracks are endearing and touching as honesty swivels through. Morrison has a fresh and brilliant voice that, mixed with the bumping instrumentals, really sets sail.
Morrison’s sentiment is true as his husky vocals and songwriting licks the wounds with passionate conveyances. His voice is a bit similar to James Blunt’s vocals, but I think Morrison is more pure and has more electrifying instrumentals that make his singles more captivating, which can derail you. Songs for You, Truths for Me is a straight forward translation as his pained lyrics bolster a tour de force of musical play that is sensational to listen to. Hailing from Britain, Morrison helms a mainstream sound with a bit of an edge packed with a fury of punches.
Songs for You, Truths for Me is arranged as a series of tracks that act as little symphonies inside the belly of a bigger one. Each one rises and falls just as sure as the sun’s daily clockwork schedule. James Morrison shows why he’s worthy of a Best Male award at the Brits as he drives home a power slam of tracks that are upbeat and heartfelt, which is rare. His passion for music radiates and stirs the pot of emotions as evidenced on Songs for You, Truths for Me.
