Two Flowers

Okay, okay, it's not quite folk. But one wouldn't know that, when just turning on Danielle Sansone's new album, Two Flowers. Typically, folk music refers to old music associated with specific cultures. However, the purveyance of folksy and bluegrass-flavored pop music has truly thrown the term "folk" into question. In this particular album, there is an interesting blend of folk and alternative, morphing into a Natalie Merchant/Alanis Morissette/Feist mixture all rolled into one, courtesy of the voice of Danielle Sansone.

Danielle Sansone's bluegrass and folk-flavored album is clearly geared towards a niche audience, but still contains some beautiful pieces. "Like an Angel" is just all-around sweet and endearing, while "Shimmering" exudes a more aloof, Natalie Merchant-like and thoughtful tune. An album sung by a woman with a beautiful and soulful voice, Two Flowers, is not for everyone. For those who do enjoy folk and bluegrass, check out Danielle Sansone's Two Flowers, and you may just find yourself giving it two thumbs up.
