Vinho Do Porto
A Latin-flavored jazz album released just this year, Vinho Do Porto, is worth checking out. With no lyrics or lead singer to take away from the music, Portinho Trio has constructed an album which has no one star, other than the instruments and their mellifluous music.
"Satin Doll" is your typical jazz number with the required flair, while "Footprints" is a little more upbeat and identifiable. The namesake song, "Vinho Do Porto," is very lovely and gives the listener the illusion that they may be listening in on what should be the background music of a James Bond movie, while he travels to an exotic locale. Possibly the best thing about this entire album are the song names. Other than the just plain fun names like "Who's Smokin?" the Portuguese names are beautiful and simply roll off the tongue. Vinho Do Porto is a pleasant and fun album for the jazz and Latin music lovers out there.
