Dressy Bessy - HollerandStomp
- For fans of the girl power genre, Dressy Bessy is here to make your dreams come true. With their new release, Hollerandstomp, they give a nod to previous all-female groups with edge and musical sense, like the Donnas, and to some degree, the Spice Girls (though their music couldn't be farther from the lovable but light fluff of the British group everyone loved.) Some of the catchiest songs on this album include "Sindy Says" and "Dressed the Part." "Roundabout" is not the worst song ever, but it leaves an odd taste; sounding like a retro-wannabe and yet lacking any originality, even as an homage, it's not the greatest note on which to end this album. Thankfully, it's not the last song of that album - that honor goes to the enjoyable "Cindy Says." "Anyone Can See" falls into a similar trap, but overall, the edge and sense of fun within this album, overrides any negative aspects. Overall, this is an entertaining album with a few standout songs, which counts for something. You go, girls!
