Jason Reeves - The Magnificent Adventures of Heartache (And Other Frightening Tales)
- The youth of America love to have love affairs with smooth, bubbly beachy singers like Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Jason Mraz and Donovan Frankenreiter. In that proud tradition, the new member of the club is Jason Reeves. Credited as part of the reason Colbie Callaitt has enjoyed her publicity, singer/songwriter Jason Reeves has come into his own on the album, The Magnificent Adventures of Heartache (And Other Frightening Tales). It may be wearying to get through the entire title of his album, but the music inside certainly makes up for it. From the yearning and yet optimistic love song, "Someone Somewhere," and "Happy Accident," to the sweet chords and equally sweet lyrics of "Pretty Eyes," to the Jack Johnson/John Mayer-esque "Just Friends" to the simple and catchy "Gasoline," the album ends quietly and peacefully with the simplistic yet haunting "The End." Much good luck to Jason Reeves -- but with his talent, he doesn't need good luck, he just needs to continue to be himself. Well done, Jason!
