Rosie Thomas - A Very Rosie Christmas
- Rosie Thomas gets a little help from a backdrop of skilled musicians to hoist her gifted voice up and give it wings as a seemingly avant-garde Christmas album is produced under the title, A Very Rosie Christmas. These are not like the typical Christmas carol songs, shouting off the rooftops that Santa is coming to town, or promoting the roasting of chestnuts on an open fire. If you close your eyes, these songs don’t have to be just about Christmas as there’s a fine depth and they really touch the heart, not in their holiday spirited rejoice, but in their sweet voluptuous voice that plays over the slow, dramatic inclination that touches the soul.
These slow pumped ballads are dripping with the passion of embracement. It’s as if the tracks aren’t restricted for just Christmas use and could be listened to during other parts of the year. These songs cut against the grain of the usual Christmas carols as they possess a stronghold on a weaving sound. The harmonic music has a very cinematic appeal that encourages a warming, joining union. The tender ballads can be roasted on an open flame.
Rosie Thomas’s unique take on a Christmas album is much appreciated and makes you take notice. The songs are wholehearted and, in a way, cleansing. She takes her time and lets her voice bellow as hope flickers on the horizon through the murky darkness of hard times. A Very Rosie Christmas proves to bring the holiday spirit in an unprecedented way that is both joining and positively foreseeing that the good times aren’t far away.
