Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson - Rattlin' Bones
- Husband and wife duo Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson release slow and tender folk songs on the album, Rattlin’ Bones. They’re slow and weave in and out, yet are surprisingly uplifting. It’s raw and gutsy, but leaves you with a strange feeling of satisfaction. The vocals soar as the plucking strings filter out with great build and consistency. Rattlin’ Bones is soulful as it delves into the underbelly of despair and can make references of the devil not seem detrimental to us, as it can be upbeat. Heaven and hell are dominant images conveyed through the married couple.
The music is surprisingly inspiring in a way, with a certain swaying furrow of emotions. Chambers’s voice has personality and is sharp as a tack. Rattlin’ Bones follows that traditional folksy sound and really tailors country to be embraced by all. They really paint an image of a windswept landscape and desolate town in your mind vividly. Maybe it’s just that country style out in the Midwest, but it’s undeniably beautiful. Chambers is more dominant and seems to be the leader as she delivers a sincere sentiment in each note.
Rattlin’ Bones has a soft spoken deliverance to it. It doesn’t overstep its bounds as it presents a series of tracks that are remarkably consistent and truly classic. Chambers and Nicholson speak to us through their music, which is emotionally stirring. The songs are heartfelt and cleansing with a flickering of hope by candlelight. Sorrow has never been such a delight to listen to as it is now.
