Various Artists - Piano Music Classics
- Travel back to romantic and cinematic memories with the classical piano sounds of Roger Williams, Ferrante & Teicher, and Liberace. This compilation includes songs you’ll recognize from old films. Such pieces include “Moon River” from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, “Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz, and “The Sound of Music.”
I especially take pleasure in listening to these classics not just because they’re classics, but because they are played with such fervor. You do not hear just piano, but a beautiful accompaniment of strings that enhance the cinematic feel of the songs, making it hard not to relive scenes from the classic films.
There are a number of skillful piano glissandos that resemble the sound of water trickling, as you will hear in “Autumn Leaves,” as well as passionate violin vibratos that augment your emotions, as in “Somewhere my Love” from the film Dr. Zhivago. The balance between piano and strings, with emphasis on the piano, makes for an enjoyable and thrilling listen. And if you are especially a romantic at heart, your mind will find itself engrossed in the emotions of these classic films, rendered so tenderly by these timeless songs.
