Gigi D'Agostino
While technically classified as electronic, Italian DJ Gigi d'Agostino's self-entitled first album actually sounds more like electro-classical music. This is not the stereotypical electronic CD with fast beats that make you feel like dancing; these songs are slow and gentle, and reminiscent of the ocean. There are no lyrics on this CD, except for in the song, "Gigi d'Agostino," where this name is chanted in crescendo.
"Gigi d'Agostino" may be the most original and creative song on the entire CD. While most of the other songs are beautiful and calming, they sound almost exactly the same. The melody seems very flat, and the songs tend to blur together into one monotonous synthesizer. Gigi d'Agostino gets very boring very quickly, and has the potential to sound like glorified elevator music. However, it does have its uses. An insomniac would love this CD: it's so relaxing and carefree that it would put them right to sleep. But if you're looking for something to spice up your music collection, save your money.
