A Day Without Rain
You most likely remember the beautiful tune Only Time. It was the song that became identified with the September 11th attacks, which may be the reason why A Day Without Rain became Irish music artist Enya's most successful album, selling 15 million copies. It became the top-selling album of 2001, catapulting Enya to best-selling female artist in the world in 2001.
All of the album's songs, composed by Enya herself, are generally about love and journeying through life. Besides Only Time, other emotional tracks include Pilgrim, Fallen Embers and One by One. What makes the songs emotional is not just Enya's uniquely and beautifully gentle vocals, which are layered to create her signature sound, but the ethereal echoing and subtle synthesizers. Put together, these elements create an almost spiritual listening experience. By far, A Day Without Rain is one of the most tender and heavenly CDs I have listened to.
Enya showcases her number of talents in this album. Aside from her vocals, she also plays the violin and piano, which are most prominently heard in the CD's instrumental tracks, Silver Inches and A Day Without Rain, respectively.
