That Kind of Love

A veteran singer and songwriter, Pierce Pettis released his ninth album this past January. In the years that he worked for PolyGram records, Dar Williams, Garth Brooks and Art Garfunkel have sung Pettis' songs, among others. Unfortunately, "That Kind of Love" falls below expectations.

Although the album opens well with a nice tune and good voice, the tracks quickly get repetitive and boring. There's not much that's unique about the record as a whole, and even less between each song. The one standout is the eighth track, "Talk Memphis." It has a cool country and rock vibe that's different from all the other songs.
