Calvin Harris - I Created Disco
- Fun, funky and fresh is the only way to describe Calvin Harris’s album, I Created Disco. Something about the sharp electronic sounds will have you adorning lime green sunglasses and rainbow striped pants in no time.
Each song could serve an innovative and original theme for any party. The majority of the sounds are synthesized on Harris’s own antiquated computer. His seemingly thought provoking track titles, like “This Is the Industry,” are actually quite contrary to the serious impression they give off. “My tunes aren’t supposed to invoke deep thought within people; they’re just to get you dancing,” says Harris on his Web site. And dance you will.
Harris’s vocals mesh well with the concise texture and sound of the synthesizer. Most of the album features just him singing, but simultaneously there are some stylings of overlap for a chorus of falsetto harmony. As ascetically pleasing as the creation of some of the world’s most famous and colorful art, this album will please the ears in much the same fashion.
“Acceptable in the 80s” breaks into the scene of a music genre that will transform any sour disposition. The bright colorful sounds practically drag you to your feet and force you to move.
Diverging from the average tempo of the album, “Electro Man” is a little bit slower, but maintains the same attitude. The fast paced bump in the background is not to be displaced by the mellowed sound of his voice. The contrast between rhythms actually provides a unique sound, if not strangely yet pleasantly corny.
Whatever track you choose, your outlook is sure to be brightened by this album in no time.
